Return to Play & Athletic Protocols

Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 1 Peter 3:13

The Athletic Department personnel and coaches are excited to announce participation in athletic activities. Sports teams will begin organized team practices on September 8. Athletes are invited to practice with their teammates and continue to train in the Strength & Conditioning center. Crean Lutheran’s Health and Safety protocols will be followed. As a reminder, students must have completed the Assumption of Risk and Waiver form in order to participate in sports on campus.  The Assumption of Risk and Waiver form was emailed last Friday to the primary parent email address through SignNow via forms@creanlutheran.org.

It is important for our entire community to remain confident and united in Christ. The protocols in place ensure everyone’s safety as we strive to be good neighbors. As Orange County continues to recover, Crean Lutheran High School will continue to observe health and safety measures to protect our student-athletes and coaches.

Arrival/Screening/Exit Protocol

  • Parents/Guardians of student-athletes being dropped off must wait in their car until dismissed by a coach, trainer, or assigned delegate. This will allow time for athletes to be screened and athletes with temperatures to be sent home.

  • CLHS personnel are not able to enforce carpooling guidelines; however, per recommendations from health care agencies, carpooling between families and their student-athletes is not acceptable or recommended; rather, it is frowned upon. Student-athletes should not carpool with others unless they are in the same household.

  • Do not arrive earlier than 10 minutes before practice.

  • Practice physical distancing when approaching the practice venue.

  • All coaches, athletes, and personnel will have their temperature taken by touchless thermometer and be screened each day at the designated entrance for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to participating in any workout or gathering. Screeners shall wear masks when screening. Athletes being screened are required to wear masks while being screened. Daily screening results will be recorded.

  • Self-screening while at home is encouraged and recommended, but not required.

  • When students leave a workout/practice venue, they must maintain physical distancing.

  • All students must leave campus immediately following their scheduled workout/practice. Congregating on campus after workouts is not permitted.

  • When a person involved with summer workouts answers yes to a screening question, he or she will not be allowed to enter the workout area. They will be isolated in a covered outdoor location while waiting for transportation. They will be sent home immediately and should contact their primary care provider or other appropriate health-care professional. The PRT will follow-up with next steps.
