Independent Physical Education
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17
As fellow believers in Jesus Christ, we share in the understanding that "Jesus is before all things, and in Him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:17). This verse is especially relevant during the busy times when students are striving to balance a number of responsibilities or special circumstances.
Crean Lutheran, understanding that special circumstances do exist, provides a release from the two-year physical education graduation requirement in the form of "Independent" Physical Education. When students take a year of approved "Independent" Physical Education, they do not receive a letter grade; however, they do receive "Credit" or "No Credit" on their transcript and if "Credit" is earned, one year of the two-year physical education requirement is met. While students may apply and receive credit for up to two years of "Independent" Physical Education, they are typically expected to complete Physical Education requirements through courses and sports offered on campus. "Independent" Physical Education represents an exception.
Crean Lutheran acknowledges that some students are involved in sports outside of school. Furthermore, Crean Lutheran understands that some students, while not involved in sports outside of school, are under the care of medical professionals who assign a rigorous physical therapy regimen. If you compete in an outside sport or if you are under the care of a medical professional, you may be considered for enrollment in "Independent" Physical Education.
Interested students, please complete the form prior to the first day of school for the upcoming academic year to determine if you qualify.
