Mick Vollmer has been teaching and coaching for the past 19 years. He began his work in education as a fourth grade teacher in Capistrano Unified School District. He also ran several sports camps and was a baseball coach for San Juan Hills H.S. and Dana Hills H.S. Following Jesus and seeking Him first, Mick has been blessed with his wife, Katie, and two amazing children. God has remained at the center of his marriage and family, where they continue to seek Him first and walk in faith. As the verse above states, Mick is encouraged that God has begun a good work within him, and he is eager to carry it out and serve our Lord, Jesus Christ. Led by Jesus, Mick moved into Physical Education and taught PE to grades K - 6, coached Middle School sports and became the Head Surf Coach for St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. Mick also runs a surf program for athletes of all ages and levels. Known for his positive and energetic style of teaching, he loves to keep his students and encouraged and filled with joy. Choosing to rejoice in all, knowing that we already stand in victory with Jesus Christ.
Born and raised right here in Southern California, Mick grew up surfing the beaches of San Clemente and Dana Point. Fully connected to the Lord in his creation of the ocean, recognizing how blessed we are to live here and eager to share and celebrate the joy of surfing with God at the center. Excited to bring a surf program to Crean Lutheran where can rejoice together in the water and give praise to Him. It’s Mick’s prayer that our students will be filled with the Holy Spirit, that they stand boldly for our God, and seek to live according to His will.
