New Golf Coach
Ryan Curammeng joins Crean Lutheran High School as Golf Coach and History Teacher
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Crean Lutheran High School is proud to announce that Ryan Curammeng has been named the new coach for the girls and boys varsity golf teams and has joined the faculty team full-time to teach Advanced Placement U.S. History and Honors U.S. History.
“The Lord opened the door and it was a good fit for both of us.” said Curammeng, who has taught and coached at Capistrano Valley Christian the past 23 years.
Crean Lutheran Athletic Director Eric Olson says, “Coach Curammeng is a strong Christian role model with a tremendous passion for mentoring and teaching his players. He looks forward to the opportunity to facilitate organized, competitive, vision-driven, and spiritually-based golf programs that will glorify God daily and serve his student-athletes and their families. Coach Curammeng is a golf enthusiast and also strives to master the game, his expertise will be a blessing to the program and our players.”
Coach Curammeng coached baseball, cross country, and served as the chaplain for the football team. For the past 17 years, he was the head golf coach at Capistrano Valley Christian and was named the league’s golf coach of the year in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Coach Curammeng wants his players to focus and learn from the Bible verse “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31. Curammeng’s previous teams won the league’s sportsmanship award five times. “One of the goals I have has always been to win the sportsmanship award,” he said. “That’s one of the most important things to build up the program as far as community involvement and excitement.”
Curammeng received his bachelor of arts degree from Cal Baptist University and his teaching credential from Concordia University, Irvine. He plans to apply his devotion to Jesus Christ in the classroom as well. “I’m a firm believer that Christ is in history and there are a lot of principles,” he said. “It is important to use the gifts that God has given us to glorify Him. I believe work is an act of worship, whether we are doing golf or history or math or digging a ditch, we’re doing it to his glory and to please Him and he promises to bless us.”
Curammeng has been a leader for the Mission Viejo/Dana Point Coaches of Influence fellowship and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He and his wife Florice live in Mission Viejo with their three daughters: Camille (UCSD), Makaela, and Halia. The Curammeng family attends Saddleback Covenant Church in Mission Viejo.
