The Crean Lutheran Girls Basketball program’s foundation lies within Christ and building Christ-like character through the beauty of the game of basketball. As a program we are determined to be ambassadors of Christ through his teachings of Faith, Hope and Love that are emphasized throughout our experiences together on and off the court.

Carlos Jimenez - volunetter JV Assistant

Carlos Jimenez played two years at local Junior College, Saddleback College in Mission Viejo where he helped lead his team to a state championship his sophomore year in 2015. He went on to earn an athletic scholarship to play basketball for William Jessup University, a private NAIA D1 Christian university in Northern California for the remainder of his career, earning a B.S. in Business Management. His love for the game and impacting others led Coach Carlos to start UYP Basketball Academy, a youth basketball program offering private training, club, camp, rec, and more to athletes of all ages and abilities. Coach Jimenez has been coaching and training for over 10 years, giving him the opportunity to work with professional, collegiate, High School, and youth players from all over the world.

Virginia Zekaria - Assistant frosh-soph coach

Virginia Zekaria is the Assistant Coach for the Crean Lutheran Frosh/Soph Team. Virginia’s love
for Basketball began in high school as a 4 year varsity basketball player. Virginia was awarded 1st team
all-league honors both her junior and senior year and 2nd Team All League her Sophmore Year. Virginia
was also nominated to the Los Angeles Honorable Mention team and 2nd Team All San Gabriel Valley for
Assists. Her high school competed in the CIF playoffs all 4 years, and were semi-finalists her Senior year.
She went on to play on an international team in China, including playing against the Chinese National
Team. Virginia was offered a full sports scholarship to a Division 2 school, but due to the loss of her
father she stayed locally and walked on to Azusa Pacific’s basketball team. During her time at Azusa
Pacific, she shifted gears to focus on her educational goals of becoming a physical therapist.
Virginia furthered her education completing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Virginia is currently
a licensed Physical Therapist working in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. Virginia discovered her
passion for coaching 4 years ago. She has been the head coach of elementary girls 5th and 6th grade,
and is also an assistant coach for the Jr. High Team at MVCS. She has coached NJB girls (6-8th) in both
Ladera Ranch and Rancho Santa Margarita. Virginia in her free time enjoys being with her family and all
outdoor activities including camping, surfing, and running. Virginia is excited to join the Crean Lutheran
Team. She is passionate on growing each player to their full potential. She is a strong believer in hard
work and perseverance.
