Crean Lutheran High School offers nine prestigious honor societies, which include the National Honor Society (NHS), National Art Honor Society (NAHS), Science National Honor Society (SNHS), National English Honor Society (NEHS), National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), Tri-M Music Honor Society (NMHS), Multilingual Society Chapter (MSC), International Thespian Society (ITS), and the Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honor Society (MAT). These honor societies empower and equip our students to excel in specific field areas, service, servant-leadership, and Christ-like character. Students have the opportunity to actively participate in our honor societies through attendance in monthly meetings, obtaining service hours, taking courses, attending events, and participating in field trips. Students who complete a minimum of two years in one of our honor societies and complete the member requirements will receive a special honor society distinction on their transcripts at the discretion of the Honor Society Advisor or Honor Society Coordinator.
Applications for all Crean Lutheran Honor Societies open in January for the following school year.

General Eligibility Requirements
Membership is based on successful submission of honor society applications, which require proof of service hours and a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.2 (Art Societies) to 3.7 (Academic Societies), based on the society requirements.

- Second-semester Freshman (NAHS Only)
- Second-semester Sophomore or Junior
- Cumulative minimum unweighted academic GPA of 3.2 or 3.70 or higher depending on society (Please check individual society requirements.)
- No incidence of academic dishonesty
- Completion of the Honor Society Application Form by the deadline
- Attendance at monthly meetings and events
- Please check individual society requirements
Students who submit successful applications, are accepted, and fulfill the requirements will be able to list the Honor Society on their college application or resume and be recognized for their accomplishment at graduation.

Overview:
The National Honor Society Chapter at Crean Lutheran High School serves to honor students who reflect the four central tenets of National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been at the forefront of the organization since its inception in 1921. In addition to recognizing students for their past accomplishments, the organization encourages students to become active members in their community through service and leadership.

Member Requirements
Once students are accepted into the Crean Lutheran High School chapter of the National Honor Society students are expected to:
- Complete a minimum of 15 documented service or leadership hours a year in addition to the initial requirements (service hours include any service projects, philanthropies, or volunteer opportunities both on-campus and off-campus)
- Attendance at monthly meetings
- Participation in an annual service project
- Maintain an average 3.70 unweighted GPA for membership
- Lead by example on campus by following the outlined behavior expectations in the student handbook (e.g. uniforms, attendance, Christ-like behavior)
Students who apply must reflect the four central tenets of NHS through documented evidence of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Students must have documented a minimum of 50 hours of leadership experience, 50 hours of service experience, and 50 hours of character experience. All applicants must also meet the “General Requirements.”
Students who submit successful applications, are accepted, and fulfill the requirements will be able to list the National Honor Society on their college application or resume and be recognized for their accomplishment at graduation.

The Crean Lutheran High School Chapter of the Science National Honor Society serves to encourage and recognize scientific and intellectual thought, to aid the civic community with its comprehension of science, and to encourage students to participate in community service and in turn, encourage a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all of mankind.

Eligibility Requirements
- Second-semester Sophomore or Junior
- Cumulative unweighted academic GPA of 3.70 or higher with an A average in honors/AP science coursework
- Must have completed at least three semesters of science at the honors or AP level
- Minimum of 30 total service hours prior to applying for the Honor Society
- Must be currently enrolled in a honors/AP science class
- Students should demonstrate leadership, responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, and citizenship
- No incidence of academic dishonesty
- Complete the Science National Honor Society Application or Renewal Form by the deadline

Eligibility Requirements
- Second-semester Sophomore or Junior
- Cumulative unweighted academic GPA of 3.2 or higher with an A- average or higher in all Dance Courses
- 30 points prior induction for dance activities such as dance classes, rehearsals, performances, research, workshops, or community service activities points for Induction

All applicants must also meet the “General Requirements”. In order to graduate with high honors with the medallion and cord, students must be enrolled in the CLHS Dance program through their senior year and complete a few more projects with a written essay approved by the sponsor.

Eligibility Requirements
- Second-semester Sophomore or Junior
- Cumulative unweighted academic GPA of 3.20 or higher with an A average in music courses
- Rising juniors and seniors must have completed a minimum of 1.5 semesters enrolled in a Crean Lutheran High School music ensemble
- Participated in a minimum of 2 Crean Lutheran High School-sponsored choral or instrumental performances for rising Sophomores, or 4 Crean Lutheran High School-sponsored choral or instrumental performances for rising Juniors and Seniors (Transfer students: if not possible, please reach out to Dr. Bark)
- Students should demonstrate leadership, responsibility, respect, and trustworthiness
- No incidence of academic dishonesty
Member Requirements
- Attendance at all NMHS meetings that occur each semester
- Remain actively enrolled in a Crean Lutheran High School music ensemble or academic music class (i.e. AP Music Theory or Honors Composition) throughout tenure of membership in the Tri-M Music Honor Society
- 10 hours of musically focused service completed per year
- 5 hours of general service completed per school year (separate from the music hours)
- Participation in at least one non-Crean Lutheran musical concert per year
- Completion and passing grade in AP Music Theory prior to graduation in order to receive Graduation Cords and official notation on CLHS transcript

Overview:
The Crean Lutheran High School Chapter of the National Art Honor Society serves to inspire and recognize students with an outstanding ability and keen interest in the visual arts. Students gain peer recognition and leadership growth opportunities that support college preparation, as well as opportunities for awards, scholarships, and having their work published nationally. Membership in this chapter shall be based upon art scholarship, service, and character.

Eligibility Requirements
- NAHS is open to rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are currently enrolled in a Visual Arts course at CLHS
- Cumulative unweighted academic GPA of 3.2 or higher with an A- average in all Visual Art Courses
- Rising Sophomores must have completed a minimum of .5 credits and rising Juniors and Seniors must have completed a minimum of 1.5 credits in Crean Lutheran High School Visual Art courses at time of application
- Students should demonstrate leadership, responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, and citizenship
- No incidence of academic dishonesty
- Complete the National Art Honor Society Application or Renewal Form by the deadline

- Attend all NAHS meetings
- Attendance at all mandatory events
- Attendance at at least one optional NAHS event per semester

- Assist in the collection, preparation, and display of artwork in the Crean Lutheran High School gallery and classrooms

Overview:
The Multilingual Society Chapter at Crean Lutheran High School serves to recognize graduating high school students who have demonstrated significant progress toward achieving a high level of proficiency in English and in reading, writing, listening and speaking in a Language Other Than English. (LOTE). The students in the Multilingual Society Chapter at Crean Lutheran High School also demonstrate a strong passion, appreciation, and commitment to intercultural interests and to create a community of diverse learners.

Eligibility Requirements
- Second-semester Sophomore or Junior
- One of the three academic criteria must be met to join the Multilingual Honor Society:
- Be completing their 2nd year of High School level LOTE courses I through IV at CLHS with an A grade average in current and previous year, and enroll next semester in their 3rd year of a LOTE course (or)
- Be currently enrolled in their 3rd year or higher of a LOTE course at CLHS, with an A grade average in current and previous years (or)
- Have successfully taken an LOTE AP test with a passing score of 3 or higher
- Cumulative unweighted academic GPA of 3.70 or higher and with an A average in both English and Languages Other Than English (LOTE) coursework.
- Students should demonstrate leadership, responsibility, respect, and trustworthiness
- No incidence of academic dishonesty
- Complete the Multilingual Society Chapter Application or Renewal Form by the deadline
Member Requirements
Once students are accepted into the Crean Lutheran High School chapter of the Multilingual Society students are expected to:
- Attend and participate in 2 Multilingual Society sponsored activities
- Complete a minimum of 15 documented service or leadership hours a year specific to LOTE (service hours include any service projects, peer tutoring, philanthropies, or volunteer opportunities both on-campus and off-campus)
- Attend monthly meetings
- Maintain a cumulative unweighted academic GPA of 3.70 or higher, and A grade in their English and LOTE classes.
- Remain actively enrolled in a LOTE course (Levels I-IV or highest course offered) offered at CLHS (waived for students who scored a 3 or higher on the AP language test)
- Lead by example on campus by following the outlined behavior expectations in the student handbook (e.g. uniforms, attendance, Christ-like behavior)
Students who submit successful applications, are accepted, and fulfill the requirements will be able to list the Multilingual Society Chapter on their college application or resume and be recognized for their accomplishment at graduation.

- Second-semester Sophomore or Junior who has earned the required one hundred hours (10 Points) of quality work in the theatre arts prior to Thespian induction
- Cumulative unweighted academic GPA of 3.20 or higher with an A average in all Performing Arts courses.

- Students should demonstrate leadership, responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, and citizenship

- Must be currently enrolled in at least one of the following courses:
